I needed to add a sound card (when the speaker circuit
failed in the ASUS motherboard (Sound on Board) and
earlier trials showed I needed 24-bit circuitry.  (A cheap
16-bit card worked OK but with unacceptable quality

Had a program that was giving me an error regarding kernel32.dll. So I
thought to delete the current kernel and replace it will one from the
WEB. After the Downloading, I copied the new kernel32 to c:\ drive (via
explorer). Then in the DOS prompt I used this instruction:

hi, well heres the scoop......i had windows 98se on me computer with no
problems....decided to upgrade to windows xp.......so i reformatted then
upgraded, again no problems, except i noticed that my lil' ol 'puter just
hasn't got the umph it needs to run the xp, it runs so ...

Advice requested trouble-shooting total lack of sound
in a 2-year-old 2.2 GHz system under Win98SE.
The system is set to play the MS arpeggio wave on boot.
1.  Two weeks ago the sound system started buzzing

i installed win98 on a fresh system. Setup completes without any problems.
Then when the first startup of win98 is pending,the pc shuts down, and
reboots into a continous loop. Same thing happens when i try to start in safe

I have an Ibm clone that I recently purchased and somehow it has dropped the
winit.exe in the startup, as a result it shuts down as soon as it starts
opening windows.
I do not have a win 98 disk but the disk has been copied to the hard drive

When i attempt to load 98se on a clean disk i get an error
msg that says:

Does anyone know how to do the following in setting up Win98?  When I right
click on the desktop
there is a menu that opens which has a choice "NEW" and that then includes
the option to click on creating a new folder or running a number of

i turn on the computer wth the startup disk,and regaurdless of what i try the
computer gos to the windows 98 and then to the compac presario then it hangs
up at that point. ive tried going threw the safe mode and it does the same
thing.
