How do I download updates for Windows 98SE and save them to CD pending the stoppage of support from Microsoft? I have an OLD machine that runs just fine with Windows 98SE. Anything else (other than a small version of Linux) dies on the vine on the machine.

I am running windows 98SE. I have lost my volume control panel and the computer in general is working crazy. Can I put the windows 98 installer CD in and have it replace or place things back in order without having to reinstall all my drivers and programs. In other

When this particular machine boots, hitting f8 gets you the menu that lets you go into pure DOS. Isn't there some binary .sys file you replace with a text version in order to get this startup menu automatically?

A friend of mine who has a W98FE machine and a little daughter came to me and said "she just deleted a bunch of files, can you rebuild it?" I got the key id with jelly bean and copied the cabs subdirectory to another hd. Then I rebooted/repartitioned/

I'll need to reinstall Win98 and WinMe on two machines (that cannot be updrated to WinXP). I have the original disks but wonder where I'll find the updates and patches since support to thses OSes has been stopped by Microsoft. Is there a repository with all patches and updates ...

I want to write down the BIOS info on my old Compaq just in case I need to manually enter it if it some day forgets it. F10 got me to the right menu but I couldn't view any of the floppy or hard disk information. Highlighting the correct item and hitting "Enter" did nothing.
