My system applet is not showing up in control panel in Windows 98SE. I have
sysdm.cpl but it says  it lacks a valid PE signature which, presumably, is
why it is not showing up. I installed the OS from a genuine Microsoft disk
which cost me $200. Presumably the original is in one ...

Visiting a friend over the weekend, his W98SE system wouldn't boot - this
happened while I was watching, and he said he'd not had any problems the
last time he'd used it (the previous day).
It came up with the usual sort of message '98 does when an important file is

I am trying to help a friend upsize her C: drive without reinstalling the O/S
(98SE) or applications.  Is there any freeware (or non-crippled trialware) that
will accomplish this for us?

I have a laptop whose battier is dead. During booting up the power
cord became unplugged from the transformer. When I tried to reboot I
got a message about a second partition, which I did not have on the
hard drive. I assumed scandisk would run automatically and things

e.g. Temporary Internet Files, off any hdd's partition.  Same
jamming using WinME's explorer.exe in Win98se, & no jam
if done entirely in WinXP home edition.
Any1 here has this problem ?

Recently I did a clean install of window 98 SE on my laptop. During

group of files for what I think was for the different hardware in the
