How do you keep programs from opening when you start up
under windows 98. I have checked the Scheduler and do not
find them in there. ICQ is one of the programs
If you have any ideas I would love to here them

I'm getting the message "This program has performed an
illegal operation and will be shut down."  The details
reveal this to be  a Kernel32.dll error, and it happens
when I double click My Computer, Recycle Bin, and various

Any help in downloading this missing file would be
appreciated.  I am a novice at working on computers but am
willing to learn.  Is there a way I can download this file
that was accidentally deleted by me when installing a new

I need help enabling the AutoPlay function in Windows 98.
None of the CD programs I try to install do so with that
Wizard and I have to go through alot of steps to install.  
I am not very computer savvy so perhaps someone can give

I'm running Win98Se, but I recently tried installing Win2k to another
partition. Win2k didn't work out well for me, so I want it gone now,
which looks easy enough, just a format of that partition. However,
somewhere in C: I'm left with a duel-boot menu thing when I reboot.

I'm getting a message stating "Operating System not found
on any devices.  Hit any key to retry."  Hitting any key
only causes the message to return.  This is happening
during startup.  HELP!!

Hi: I have two questions I'd like help with:
-Whenever I start my Win98 PC a window with the C drive in view opens. I do
not know how this started happening but it is inconvenient to have to close
it each time. How can I stop that from happening?

Every time I click on a jpeg picture the default program
that comes up is not the one I want. How do I change the
default program to the one I prefer?

WHEN I START MY SYSTEM the desktop appears gray and a box
appears with the following message:

I tried to find my problem with my dialup networking and
did the start run SFC extract 1 file winsoc.dll start
browse restore from windows cabinet files ok directory
path backup folder ok yes. It said no file found, I tried

I was wondering isd there somewhere or somehow to retrieve
paint? I have lost it when trying to add more windows
hardwhere.  Also, my recycle bin has lost the tect for it
and my Internet Explorer has larger fonts than it used to

when i go to shut down it goes to window saying shutting
down but not do anything just stays there. how can i fix
this problem?
