my friend has a really old ( doesnt have cd-rom) laptop
that he screwed up. He now wants to reinstall it. To do
this, he bough a regular Win98 setup disk. After that, he
realized that his laptop only has a floppy drive. Is there

i have had my computer for 3 years and have since upgraded
it multiple times. ( starting with 350mgz P2 to 1.73Ghz
Athlon 2100+) i have however never changed my OS. I have

I'm running Windows 98 and picked up a virus that
corrupted my msconfd.dll file in my windows\system
directory.  I was unable to repair the file so now I need
to get a new one somewhere.  I tried reinstalling Windows

I am not able to defrag (which I have done before).  I
have closed all running programs and have no screensaver
running.   I have even tried through Maintinance Wizard

I recently installed a virus scanner from the internet and
found that it had erased a file called "pcnm" file which
aparently opened "Application" files and a message box
comes up sayin that windows cannot locate it, what should

 I've just installed a chinese writing pad, but my windows can't read
chinese, so I open the njstar which can read chinese. But then it turns into
blue screen, and say the program has to be terminated due to some illegal
operation. I guess it's software conflict, but what can I do ...

because win98 is unable to maintain over 512mb of memory,
every one who has over that amount has to edit system.ini,
restricting windows to use over 512mb. What happens to the
extra memory? Are any other windows programs or games able
