i've just built a new machine ( intel MB w/875P chipset,
2.6 ghz p4, 2 gig of ram, two seagate sata drives, dvd-
rom, geforcefx video, audigy ls sound) i fdisked ok,
formatted ok, initial load of win 98. on reboot to install

Maintenance Wizard has always worked fine, now it is
giving me an error message in Scan Disc, "Scan Disc has
restarted 10 time because Windows or another program has

into text while using word processor; however, lately the
picture will not load - instead I get a box with the

I need to rename a file folder in window.  However, there
are several files that link to other files within this
folder.  Will the links automatically update when it is
renamed?

I am running Widows98, Internet Explorer6 and OutlookExpress6 which connect
to MSN Freeweb as a default.
Over the last few weeks the "Dial-up Connection" panel appears more and more
often when not wanted.  It appears when opening Word and other applications

I lost sound on my computer.
The speaker sound icon dissappeared.
When I click star/programs/accessories/entertainment/CD
player.... I can play CD.

I recently reinstalled my Winodows 98.  Everything is
working pretty well, except my Help Menu.  Whenever I need
any of the Windows 98 Troublshooters, it prompts me to
identify the initial error and then I click NEXT, and

I posted at another area but no answer on how to correct.  
I downloaded mcafee online virus scan now about 10 times
because of this.  Keep getting message with windows 98
startup, ERROR: incorrect vshield device driver version.

I downloaded a file from the internet and it says "A
required .DLL file, FREEIMAGE.DLL, was not found." anyone
know where i can find a patch or the like to get the .DLL?

Does anyone out there know if there is a way to get back
permently deleted files in windows 98?  I accidently
deleted some pictures that I need to get back.  Any help
would be appreciated.

Whenever I boot up the machine, I get the following error
message before Windows 98 starts up:
"Cannot find a device file that may be needed to run
Windows or a Windows application.

i have win95 installed on my compaq desktop.would like to
know if i can upgrade to win98? my hdw is intel pentium
II processor. math co processor is 64.0 MB Ram. system
software win ver 5.0. 11.2GB disk space 7.70 GB free.
