Please kindly help me. I've got a Win98 PC at work. It
works fine, until anyone tries to install something.
During installation, it will hang. The only way out then
is to do a hard reboot. Not onnly during installation,

Some time ago I discovered that I couldn't open text documents, suffixed
"doc" even one that I had just created using Wordpad.
I think that it has been tied in some way to MS Word, which I DON'T use. (I
use a DTP program).

I have a pentium III coppermine. I just installed an additional ram chip,
256MB in addition to the 128MB that it came with. I discovered that it was
running at 366Mhz and is supposed to run at 733Mhz. I set the bus speed up

I want to stop a program from trying to start up everytime
I boot the machine. I have looked in
start/programs/startup and have had no luck finding how to
turn it off.

When I'm in Word 97, if I switch on the printer, the PC
reboots. Often it continues to reboot just as it reaches a
new desktop. I think this a Windows problem rather than a

I uninstalled my desktop theme from the Add/Remove menu in
the control panel(windows set up tab).
When I tried to reopen(without re-installing) it asked
with what application I wanted to open with(ex: acrobat
