I have a problem of the sound stuttering on various .avi files. The .avi files
have mpeg layer 3 sound. Some have ac3 sound.Gspot informs me that quartz.dll is
the codec that is playing the sound. Picture is divx/xvid. I have the Xvid and
Ac3 codecs installed.

I am using Windows 98 and i had a virus when i got rid of

About a week ago my computer began to work very slowly

The CD Writers in the store, e.g., Memorex and Sony, won't
work with W98 1st Ed, which I have on this computer. How
can I obtain an external CD Writer that will work? The
software in the Memorex box was by Nora. I have sent them

the workarounds include locating the environmental
variables and appending that path with the path location
of the mso97.dll file. This applies to Windows 2000, etc.,
but does not apply to Windows 98. Any suggestions?

when booting up computer, i get this mesage:
C:\afterdrk\adw30.386 file is missing...
Any ideas why and how to fix? What is it?

For example to see what version of Windows 98
Click Start,Settings,Control Panel,double click System. At
this point nothing occurs.  On Show desktop icons
Microsoft Outlook is not a short cut and I can click it

I downloaded this application several days back. It
appeared to work fine the 2 or 3 times that it was
launched.I tried to launch it again recently. It seemed it
was responding, then its name appeared in the Task Bar and
Pages: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 September, 2004
