I re-installed Windows 98 two months ago and the system
was working fine until one week ago. When I tried to turn
on the pc, it did not go thru its normal progressions. In
other words, its was not booting up. It just had a

My windows disk defragmenter doesn't work. It only goes up
to 2% and then goes back to 0% and repeats this over and
over and doesn't go any farther. What could be the problem
and is there any way to fix this? I've been using norton

Hi, in the organisation where i am working, the person
who was working before me created a .BAT file on the
server (workgroup). My understanding is that this .BAT
file should be on every computer and im not sure what

icon will not disappear from taskbar after program is
shutdown.  Example:  Control Panel icon remains on the
taskbar after I closed out the control panel.

Every time I try to bring up wordpad, I get an error
message saying that's it has performed an illegal
operation and will be shut down.  I've tried taking it off
and re-installing it, but I still get the same message.

Nearly all my apps have been changed to show a file
extension of .lnk. This is also shown on the icons in
windows explorer.

I am not a Technophile and I inadvertently clicked on
the 'MS-DOS' button on the "shutdown" application on my
Windows 98. Since then I have only been able to reboot in
MS-DOS. I have tried the C|Windows. Win. but still get

Yikes! I've tried everything I know, and still can't get
Internet Explorer to run. I *can* open a jpeg which
displays under IE; it just won't connect with the Internet.
