I notice that Zone Alarm, the freeware firewall, has stopped providing updates for Win98. Does anyone see this as a problem and if so, is there another freeware firewall, which continues to support Win98, I can use instead?

The program (a proprietary program) asked to reboot (I was not manning the install) and when we rebooted and logged back into windows something very strange happens: The taskbar flicks on and goes off permanently, there is only desktop wallpaper (one of the windows default bitmaps) ...

In msconfig,exe the startup menu for selective startup. How do I clean out old unwanted startups? Should I make a backup also? The list is long an old and outdated. tia

The errors that I keep having with this app. are from [index.dat] and [schedlog.txt] running in the background while the back up is running. I have closed all running app. on system except explorer. I know what [schedlog.txt] is for Task Scheduler.

I have found an executable on C:/ which I do not recognise (not unusual) but a quick google seems to produce rather doubtful results - some forums say it is a Trojan but don't seem very sure about it. I would delete it but I seem to remember deleting something quite harmless
