Hopefully I'm posting in the right place...seemed to be the only "firewall"
related group:
1. Running Windows 2003 Server Standard Ed as a web and mail server
2. The server is hosted at a third party web hosting provider. The server is

I'm new to networking and would like someone to explain how a network is
connected to the internet and email is set up.
I'm thinking that: I must purchase connection to the internet from a company
like AT&T, Verizon etc. I would them need a server with 2 nic cards (one for

If I have two machines, A and B, on a workgroup (called workgroup), from A I
can run \\b\sharename and connect to it.
Now, if B is on a different workgroup, say, workgroup1, is there a
straightforward way to connect to it from A?

I am having a problem where if an outbound connection is idle for 2 hours
the the firewall will drop the connection. We have outbound apps that need
to be connected for extedded periods of time and not diconnect and they may
be idle for a few hours.

I noticed, that I can not access my desktop's shared drives from my
table PC, when my firewall (ZoneLab) is running. What holes do I have

Please recommend the following according to my requirement:
(1) I need to allow/block my network users to surf particular website.
(2) I need a chat messenger that only communicate with specified users on
the chat server.
VPN Fails After XP SP2 (Firewall is configured for VPN)09 Oct 2004 12:57 GMT16
I have the default config in the SP2 firewall for allowing VPN. However,
when I try to connect to my PC, the VPN connection times out. If I try
it again immediately it works. In other words, the first connection
attempt fails EVERY TIME, but the second attempt is successful.
