I have a desktop witch is running Windows Vista Home Premium and a laptop running Windows XP sp2 both have Windows Firewall and AVG Free Anti-Virus enabled. The desktop is connected to the internet via a dial up connection and the two computers are connected together via a Hub.

When I tell MS Firewall to "allow a program" does that mean all TCP and UDP ports used by that program will be allowed or do I have to specify additional "allowed" ports for the already "Allowed" program?

Just bought a new laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium. I have 2 other PCs with WinXP and 2 NAS devices in my home network. XP machines are working perfectly, but Vista hangs when I'm trying to use mapped network drives.
