Do I really need a router?
I am presently on a dial-up 56K connection, an average homeuser with a
desktop computer. My OS is WinXP SP2. I work with LUA, use the in-build
firewall and Seconfig XP.

I have a simple home network with a desktop wire connected to a router and a
laptop connected wirelessly. Both PCs have firewalls (WinXP/2 and CA). With
the firewalls set to ON I cannot ping the two PCs from each other. If I
switch the firewalls to OFF then I can ping each PC ...

After applying SP2 update on our Windows 2003 x64 server, the internet
explorer stopped working. DNS resolution works fine and so does ping.
Thinking that it might be browser(IE7) issue, I even installed Mozilla
Firefox but that seems to have same issue. Below is what works.

I have two ftp servers (Xlight) on local as follows
A: 192.168.1.20 listening on port 21
B: 192.168.1.2 listening on port 44
