May not be the correct group to pose this question but
the "system tools" group would not come up for me. Maybe
it does not exist any longer.
Anyway, my problem is that when I attempt to run Scan Disk

On startup, I get an error window that says "rundll32
caused an error in kernel32.dll"
I found the file on the installation disc, and tried to
replace the file using the system configuration utility.

scandisk and defrag will not do their job.  I turn them on
and they never get past zero complete.
I've cleared lots of stuff that looks like it may be
