Everything was running fine until I applied a Microsoft
Update on 1/10/2004...  
The version of Win ME on the system after the updates is
4.9.3000.

Have what Ms call error 800a0046-need to turn permission
in visual studio 6.0 sp4 on.  Insturction say browse to
\winnt\system32 folder.  Do search and directory say can't
find winnt sytem folder.

I uninstalled Internet Explorer (I wnated to unisnstalll
and reinstall) but I am now getting an error message:
"Explorer has caused an error in Shell32.dll and will now

When I purchased my Dell, it had Norton antivirus 2001
installed on it.  I wanted to install McAfee virus scan
but it would not complete the installation. It said it had
found Norton and needed to be uninstalled.  I have tried

System Restore will not work because the patch blew away
all the checkpoints I need..

Hi, I have a client trying to install Quickbooks on a Dell
Dimension running WinMe. Install runs fine for a few
minutes then we get the message 'could not format Install
Time Stamp properly' Quickbooks people say it is a WinMe

When I do Start>Run>msconfig>startup the first item on the list has no name
and says it's loaded from Registry (per-user run).  The space provided for
the name is blank but highlighted.  I have no idea how it came to be there
nor does it appear to be causing any trouble (?) but I'm ...

DirectX 9 will not install on my computer.  Installation
fails when a required file does not copy.  Others have had
this same problem (see Oct. 19 post) and I have yet to see
a solution.

I formatted the hard drive and then procceded to install
