Not even in safemode. Did boot to Norton emergency disk. Says no viruses. Can get to DOS but forget how to get back to Windows (and not sure it would even work if did)

I get an error message when I try to use microsoft word 6.0. It says files are damaged or corrupted.I did a remove and reinstall files with the backup disk and all of the files are back inplace but I still get an error message.
