I recently purchase a piece of software that I couldn't
load.  I get an error message "Error-File not found
1$#&*...This file is required by Setup."  The "1$#&*" just
that--a garbled group of characters that changed every
DISPLAY.SYS and IFSHLP.SYS missing13 Oct 2004 08:03 GMT1
when I bring up my computer I get the
messages 'WINDOWS/DISPLAY.SYS' and 'WINDOWS/IFSHLP.SYS'
are missing followed by the message that whilst trying to
install the device IFSMGR the file system manager cannot

I'm trying to run Windows MovieMaker and all I'm getting is a very small

I am working on my old computer which has Windows ME as
its OS.  I think I deleted a system file because now it
will not boot up at all (not even in Safe Mode).  I have
the original Window's ME CD. My question is:  How do I

I am running Windows ME on my home computer. This past
weekend I clicked the SHUTDOWN to end my session. My
computer locked up and the only way to shut it off was to
hold the power button down for a few seconds, it shut off.

problems later on, and someone came and upgraded ( I guess) to XP PRO, now
someone is telling me she didn't format ME, and I guess I need to. Where can

everything I try to open an email attachment that I
download it comes out as wordpad and will not let me open
it with anything. I have works, wordpad,notepad etc I get
the message MSWRD 932.CNV.  Someone please help!!

When trying to launch the command prompt I go to START ---> RUN--->command...
and nothing happens. No error message or anything. It just started doing this
