I just recieved an email from "Microsoft Security Section"
that contains "New Internet Critical Pack".  It looks like
a legit Microsoft email, but I remember reading somewhere
that Microsoft never emails it's customers security

I started up one day and my desktop was in 16 bit color
mode and 640x480 pixels of screen area.  I tryed changing
the settings but when it restarts it just comes back up
with the same horrible settings.  It also displays the

my mause does not control the curser; it appears that
curser dangling around, and also when I type there is a
delay between my typin and appearence of the characters on
the screen. Any help what the problem is ?

I have a XP pro OS. I downloaded and installed the latest microsoft security
updates, and when I restarted my computer there was
suddenly a taskbar (like the ones inside folders) on the
left side of the desktop. whatever I do I can't remove it

After upgrading a system from 98 to ME, I lost the CD drive. I can't figure
out any way to access the darned thing. Any ideas?

When I turn on my computer I get a message on a black
screen that states that Windows could not upgrade the file
%1 from %2  (It is repeated several times on the screen.)
It also says that Windows could not upgrade 1 or more

What does this mean?  It comes up every time I try to
reboot my computer.  Then, my cursor doesn't move and/or
my keyboard doesn't work, though both are initialized and
detected.

When I open control panel, then add/remove program.
Nothing shows in the program. it is blank. The pc works
well and I am using Me.

There are several members on this board (me included) who
are experiencing similar error with explorer.  Getting
errors messages such as Explorer has caused an errror in
various programs and shuting down.  I think this a serious

Can anyone help or suggest action:
I'm getting random, inconsistent " ...  kernel error ...".
Most of the time the PC is fine, but typically every 5-15
mins I get one.
