Thank You for letting me know something, but I don't use
Dictionary. And it takes me nowhere and is empty like the
"~" file. I guess I don't know what you mean by it being
my dictionary, mayby the .dic means dictionary? Custom

I recently did ME critical updates, and now I have no sound (Win - can
play CD's)  No sound icon or sounds on anything.
I tried re-installing sound driver, and it didn't help.  Anyone have the
same problem?
Scan disk errors on Windows ME28 Mar 2004 05:52 GMT1
I run Windows ME. Every time attempt to scan disk I get
the error that it repeats 10 times because other programs
are writing. I use ctrl-alt-delete to shut down all
programs except Systray and Explorer. I also turn off the

Is there any way to find out why RAM Idle is always showing cpu usage at
around 80% after closing IE-while before it is either 15% and below? Is
there anyway or program to find that out. Thanks.

I have noticed postings on my mysterious file "~" that
just appears on my desktop. Am glad all it is is my
address book. But I have two mysterious fles. The other
one is named custom.dic sometimes they show up together

What is missing. When I select shutdown, it closes all
programs, leaves a blank schreen, but the motor keeps
running. I switch off from the main switch, but when I
switch back on it goes through the check hard disk.

I'm using windowsme with a ethernet adapter; my config.sys is 0 bytes; how
do I add Ems memory to my ms-dos applications running under it; If I put
device=emm386.exe in config.sys the next time I reboot it gets cleared back
to 0 bytes long; I will gladly appreciate your help.
