Help!  I can't get out of SAFE MODE... I've tried the
F8, option 1 for NORMAL MODE, but it still throws me
into SAFE MODE!  HELP!!! and Happy New Year

when I go to shut down via the start up menu it takes a bit then,  it goes
to a white screen then  the desktop shows up again  with all the icons and so
forth then,  it acts as if it is shutting down normally where it says it is

Help! I have tried the F8 approach with Opt. 1 for
NORMAL MODE, but it keeps opening in SAFE MODE.
How do I get out of this?

yeaterday i scaned for updates and it gave me 2 critical updates
security update msxml4.0 and microsoft.net framework1.1 service pack 1
after a success dowload i ended  up with somenew programs on my computer
.net framework data access, vgxq833989, xlm parser and sdk

I got an mp3 player for Christmas and I'm trying to install it. I keep
getting an error code that says to insert my ME disk because it can't find
usbntmap.sys. The problem is, I don't have an ME disk, as my pc came with ME
on it. Can I use my backup disk? Will it be there? Or can ...

I seem to be running out of hard disk space, despite uninstalling unused
software and moving pictures and large sized files to CDs and deleting them
from the hard drive.  I have also run disk clean up.  I also run adaware and
spybot.  Can anyone suggest where I can look for files ...

hello,gateway computer 550 with windows me,,computer was on for about 2
days,  updated antivirus running always ,haven`t installed any new
programs lately,restore didn`t help,,ran scandisk,rebooted computer and
it won`t automatically load into windows,,you have to type "win' at the

I've a big problem with a clean installation of WIN ME.
I can't open folders with double click anymore.
Every time I click on a folder, the window suggesting to chose
application to use appear ( like the unknown type files ).

My son-in-laws computer is using Windows ME and for some reason it has
started displaying an error dialogue "error loading Explorer.EXE; You must
reinstall Windows"
Is there a way that the Explorer EXE file can be downloaded from somewhere

I have a 40 gig hard drive over 25 gigs were taken up by the _restore
dir.  I had tried MS Support web site and just about everything I
could think of.  I bought  a DVD recorder  and have been dumping files

I am running Windows ME.Prior to deleting files and
folders and sending them to the recycle bin, I created a
system restore point. I now need to restore these files
but the recycle bin does not show any items in it. Right
