I have a Windows ME 2000 PC that I purchased
about 4 years ago.
The OS crashed often, but so far I've used the
PC occasionally so it hasn't been a problem.

On my friends pc their sound has suddenly stopped working, and they have
noticed that the sound icon is missing in the syst tray. The speakers are on
and connected.

I had a total failure on my C: drive a week or so back.  I've reloaded ME
and all done all the updates.  But KB828026 keeps coming up every day via
automatic update.  An oddity is that, if I open Windows Update directly, IT

After AVG update prompted restart the pc hung on WinME splashscreen.  After
several attempts I decided to use the boot disk.
