I'm back up and running :-))  Installed and formatted the new Samsung drive
myself December 30 and am still slowly installing my programs.
My sound problem with OE and other programs didn't go away--not with either
the new drive or fresh Me and sound-driver install--so I've ordered ...

I have been repeatedly told that Norton Anti-Virus causes more problems than
it cures.
What is a good alternative?  I would prefer freeware with regularly updated
virus  definition files available for download.

Using Window ME
Has been working just fine until today. Now when I click on START > SHUTDOWN

blinking in the upper left corner. The computer does not reboot. I have to

windows 2000 nt my password got deleted and i need to know what pass word
lets me back in to windows?i deleted it with out crateing a new password or
log in name.

after an adaware scan on a presario 6000 with windows ME i get a run time
error for windows explorer.exe but it seems to disappear after a couple of
reboots...does anyone know if this is an issue to worry about? also, i now
have a missing file error upon start up that says error ...

how do you install windows me after formatting hard drive, have got ME
emergency boot disk but unforturnatley could not get into windows to save any
work any help would be grateful.

Using ME, when I boot up, and try to launch IE, I get error message "There
isnot enough free memory to run this program."  Can anyone tell me how to

This issue is relative to Windows Me, though I also see it with Windows 95.

Didn't receive any bites on my earlier request, thus did a complete system
re-install using a couple of Compaq CD's from a couple of years ago when I
had to replace my hard drive. Followed instruction for a Factory Restore.
Upon startup I started experiencing similar errors ...

I need to format my C Drive and reinstall ME.
Can someone please point me to a web page or give me the
details on how it is done.
I have the ME Install disk Upgrade version.

Okay, just downloaded Everest. It added another item:
Microsoft Kernel System Audio Renderer, along with previously mentioned
C-media and Wave Devices. (If this means anything, I sure don't know about

It also hangs on shutdown with mssysmav.  But the most recent times has been
(mssysmgr).  Do I need to download a drive or something.  Any help WILL be
MOST appreciated.

I'm trying to help a friend who has WinME running on his system.
He says he's kept up with Windows Updates but I haven't verified that.
