how can i change the default CD and or DVD applications to another player by default? Windows Media Player keeps taking over the settings and I would rather use Media Player Classic as the default player.

Recently I started seeing a dialog box which said the Active Area had changed. I have never seen that before and have not made any changes to my Windows settings. The full text of the message is: "INFORMATION Unable to detect active area.

i cant log into my computer using my regular settings it stays stuck on my windows page waiting to start and if i shut off my computer with the power button and turn it back on it tells me that there was an error in turning off the computer and if i know what the problem is then ...

I am suddenly having strange boot disk problems. When trying to boot from either a Winows 98 or Windows Me boot disk, if I try to boot with CD Rom support, it gets to a point where it says "Scanning PCI Bus using Mechanism #2". It seems to hang there. Is this normal? Am I not ...

I recently gave a friend a HP Pavillion (circa 2000) with ME factory loaded, and I am wondering what to do should it crash. There is no CD or recovery CD, it would be a lame-duck imho if struck down with a major problem.
