when I setup in safe mode all goes ok until I get message saying that a drive
helper could not be found ,  and to make sure "ifshlp.sys" has been
installed.. then system is halted.

If not directly, it should be obtainable through WU.

In Microsoft help and support Knowledge base article ID 2147143679, the
resolution is to type in four characters in line number 4 in MS-DOS. I dont
understand what the characters are. Can anyone help.

I am trying to reinstall windows ME on a hard drive. But each time it start
to install I get a error message " Boot sector Write!!
                VIRUS   continue (Y/N)
And then freeze at that point and will then do nothing.

Every time I try to get new defs I get the message: "error retrieving
updates." I wonder what the problem is. Never got this message before.

Last week I had a problem that I've never had with my clipper program (DOS).
I was doing a demo of my program
I entered a new article, saved it, pressed F1 to see my list of articles and
it never appeared.

I have WindowsME and cannot install any new programs.I get the following
message when trying to install various different programs :
`Error code 1402 - could not open key ` and then a key code number
(Different for each program installation I try )

Windows ended update support for ME July11 / 2006.
If I shut down (Total reboot) my HP ME system will all the old Windows ME up
dates still be available up to July 11 / 2006?

Hi, have Win ME and I don't like the sounds that this version has. I already
changed the log on/log off sounds to the XP version sounds.
