My dad, who lives far away so I can't check it, has an old ME computer and says, somehow, has managed to lose his start button. I imagine that means he has lost his entire task bar. If I recall, I locked his taskbar the last time I visited him.

I was reading up on the difference between BIOS & CMOS, and think I now how a grip on it, but I am wondering why the cmos/config program uses ram instead of rom? Wouldnt this do away with the necessity of the cmos battery?
