Well, I think I've reached a conclusion - in a telling timeframe.
I think the Aero theme is very well done. That glassy look, more so with the
Sidebar running, is superb - the best cosmetic job Microsoft have ever done
(imo)! And when I had the Sidebar running, I put gadgets on it ...

Quite recently I was alerted by my credit card company that there appeared
to be several unusual charges on my account (for which I thanked them
profusely).  My wife and I have our identically-numbered cards in our
possession, so I knew they hadn't been lost.

Okay, I don't like saying 'I was right' - after all it usually means
something negative. But I was - Lavasoft have gone back on the promise
of lifelong updates to those who bought Ad-aware Plus back in, in my
case, late-2000. They call it a different product - as I predicted

I am looking for advice on transferring an existing WinME system to another
(preferrably NEW) set of hardware.
I have an older WInME pc (which I was planning to retire and "convert" to
Linux) but I feel that the whole pc needs serious replacement.

My computer is dying.  Its old and pretty grumpy.  I want to buy a lap top
with a more up-to-date OS but I have years of personal files saved in ME word
processing.  Can Vista or some other OS open, modify and close these old
files or am I just out of luck when my old computer ...
