Upon booting up, my PC opens in the My Computer
screen rather than on my Desktop like it used to. Is there
any way I can remedy this?

     Lately, whilst my pc is booting up, I get the
following two error messages;
 1) iedll has caused an error in IEDLL.EXE IEDLL will now
close.

i am installing ME on a presario 1210 laptop and i
reformatted and when i try to boot it keeps
saying "invalid system disk" The floppy works fine but the
cd rom is not working. Any suggestions??

When tring to star up usaly an error appears or if I can
get past that it sometimes(often )  freezes during set.  
Ihav tried to restore to different date but it doesn't
help.  If I do factory restore I realize I will lose all

how do i stop programs from coming on when my comp. starts

A friend asked me to look at her pc a Dell dimensions
8100 operating on windows me, apparently refused to start

When I start my computer, a window opens that says,
Required.DLL File, N32 EXCLU.DLL, was not found. How can I
restore this file or repair it? I have tried to reload my
system disk, this didn't help. I have run the Norton scan

Trying to upgrade to XP prof and the compatibily run wants
me to remove the MS Shared Fax Client before proceeding.
When I try to uninstall it via Add/Remove programs from

When I plug in a USB-device my computer hangs - the
mechanism that starts a program or detects the device that
I am plugging seems to be the problem. The file that hangs
is called something like 'msgsvr32.exe' or something like

I am trying to make windows override a hardware issue
where the Compaq NIC that came with the comp, installs but
windows won't change the allocation of the IRQ to let the
NIC work.

I'm running Japanese Windows ME but would like to
upgrade/install English Windows XP Professional?  Is this
possible, and if so, a little pointer or two.  Thanks a

Somehow I cannot find a PRODUCT KEY to get the computer
going now that I have formatted the hard drive and
reinstalled the original WindowsME software... any
suggestions?  Where can I get a product key?

I was cleaning up the computer with Norton System works.  
I pressed the wrong button and when I noticed I stopped
the process midway.  Now When I start the computer I only
get as far as the backgroud. NO ICONS!! NO startup menu!!
