still having problems extracting this. i was able to
extract powrprof and that error disappeared but still get
the winspool problem.

Under msconfig in the startup tab I have a listing for "jcahroek"  with
a file name of "bvwclaiw.exe" .  Can't find any reference to this on the
internet.  Any idea what this is and why it is loading on startup?

We have two pc's with M.E. on both.
On one I've had no problem adding a flatbed scanner
(Plustek/OpticPro)...on the second computer nothing I've
tried will allow me to add the scanner. The only
