Hello, I recently upgraded my computer"s motherboard, harddrive and memory
and did a clean install of Win Me. I have done this several times with no
problems at all. This time when I try to  access system information i get an
error message " the initialization of the help center ...

Got a PC from a relative who upgraded to a new PC with XP sometime ago.  The
old PC that he gave me runs Windows ME and he cannot remember the login
password at setup.  
Want to know what do I do to reset the password - do I reload the windows ME

I want to reinstall Windows ME but do not have the serial number written
down. How do I obtain it from the currently installed version?

When I try to use Scandisk it says that there is another application
controlling the Hard Drive and to wait till it stops and try again. I have
waited for three days and it still has the message.
Also I cannot get the PC to boot in Safe Mode. F8, delete, escape and using

when my hard disk went out I took the slave disk (40gb) wiped it formatted it
and tried to reinstall the os from my install disk. I keep getting the set
ver error message. there should not be a set version on the disk after
formatting and nothing in the kb seems to apply. Is it ...

Can any one please advise as to how ME on my laptop can be changed to
Chinese language. Also is it easy to switch between English and Chinese for
different users.
Chinese does not seem to be an inbuilt choice with ME.

I just bought an Acer Asphire 3500 laptop and tried installing ME after
formatting the hard drive and I get the following error message:
Error: OE : 0028 : FF03B779
This error ocurrs afterME searches for hardware and plug and play devices.

When ever I switch on my laptop it says that there was not a controlled shut
down and attempts to check the hard drive, if I don't cancel it it seems to
take for ever.
How can I prevent it doing a disk check at boot up ?

I reinstalled Windows ME.  Now, when I start the computer, I get the message:

I found the "logon screen" post below, but I have no idea what the old
password was.  When I searched for .pwl files I found two .pwls both listed
as "default.pwl".  Is there a standard "default.pwl" for Windows ME, or is
there some other way to rid myself of the annoying log on ...

I have a pc thay used windows me, but recently it was taken out by a virus
and i lost my windows edition, since the pc was store bought, u dont get a
windoes cd with it, even the recovery cd's that came with it are useless,,,,
since i still have my ME code can i redownload it?

I have been having umpteen zillion problems and now can't update the OS.  I
Did use my restore disks, but now future updates are causing problems too -
won't accept them.  My OS came pre-loaded on the computer, can you obtain the
OS disks for ME?  Why are the computers being sold ...
