When i start my pc now it starts loading windows and then shows a dos screen
and it says Could not upgrade 1 or more system files before starting. I have
tried to boot with start up disk and make a new retore point and then write
to drive c but it then tells me  write protect ...

My Tab key, which normally scrolls through its own window, now jumps from
active window to an inactive window behind it. How do I change it back?

Other than suggesting it may be a graphics problem I have not gotten
any assistance with these bsod's and they have got to go.
I reinstalled 2 different GeForce cards, the Voodoo and the onboard
i810 (not necessarily in that order) and the bsod's persist.

Recently I updated my ME based computer with SP1 and since doing so I cannot
access my Control Panel, I can't scan for updates through Windows Update and
when Internet Explorer starts I get an error 30 that says that Internet
Explorer needs to restart and then it continues to ...

I do not have a floppy or cd drive to boot from on this notebook.
How can I speed windows up to boot from hard drive only? Thanks

  I have been at this problem for a solid two weeks, tried everything, and
got nowhere. It seems that you can set up a Dual or even Multi boot with
every Windows O/S product "except" Millennium Edition. You don't even have
the option to "Shutdown to Command Prompt" in any menu. ...

ME will only boot in safe mode.  Lost mouse capabilities but when screen
hasn't frozen i can use keystrokes.  Looked thru previous posts, downloaded
exe from bootdisk.com & was able to do a system restore [only had choice of
going back to a restore point from back in Dec 04.]  ...
