Format wars within MS09 Nov 2004 14:01 GMT4
Is it just me, or does there seem to be a format war going on within
Microsoft? I could understand if 5-10 different manufacturers were using 2 or
3 different formats to stream media from my PC to my A/V devices throughout
my house. But, to have MS using 2-3 different formats ...
Media Connect and Media Player 1007 Nov 2004 10:38 GMT2
I Would Hope that Microsoft would eventually add a UPnP/AV Renderer into
Media player. Even if it only accesses a ContentDirectory I'd be happy.
So far the only Software renderer I've found was the reference design on the
Intel Site. But it's user interface is rather lacking  and ...

I've noticed that when playing an entire album, for example, that certain

is always skipped. The player starts to play the song, then the "stop" icon
appears, and suddenly it is playing the next song in ...

to wait until D-Link server addresses that?
Windows Media Connect - a bandwidth pig?01 Nov 2004 09:13 GMT2
Just installed WMC for use with my DLink DSM320 and noticed it uses a lot

in the packets coming from the WMC machine. Is there a ...
