When I try to start the media connect service, it will start and immediately
stop again.  The event log shows the following error:
Service 'WMConnectCDS' failed to start correctly, due to
'InitializeNetworkMonitoring' returning error '0x8000ffff'.

I have tried Sony Streaming, Nero Streaming and finally Windows connect,
which is the closest to working for me i.e. images and music seem to stream
fine. However most of my videos do not (mpeg works) XVid and divx files do
not work. I can see them in the library just not play ...

I suppose WMC is behaving "as designed", but I find it questionable that WMC
needs to rescan all files every time my PC boots up.  I have over 120 GB of
music, and I hate to think that this process is rescanning everything every
time -- isn't there a more efficient way?  I'm sick ...

Am I missing something, or isn't there a way to use WMP (or any software) as
a client for WMC 2.0? I know that the "softsled" has never made it into
production, but shouldn't WMP be able to be a client for WMC?

Okay...here are the key players.
1) Windows XP with Service pack2

When I go to my services and try to start windows media connect it will not
start it gives me an error 1068

My XBox 360 will stream content from my MCE 2005 PC, but it will not
initiate the Media Center enhancements.  When I run the file available at
www.xbox.com/pcsetup, it "authorizes my XBox 360 to access my PC, but never
asks for the eight digit code required to secure the ...

I click on the START button to start the Folder Sharing, but it grays out for
a bit then and then just enables as a START button again, indicating that it
did not start Folder Sharing.
This is on my Windows XP Machine.

Is there a seperate version of Media Connect for 64 bit XP users and where do
I get it?  Sorry if this question has already been asked, but I cannot find
it any where.  When I try to install the one from the Microsoft web site it
says it is the wrong version.

During the installation of Windows Media Connect 2.0 it gets to the part
about authorizing the Xbox 360, but then I get this page:
Configuration Error
Setup cannot find the Xbox 360 console. To Establish a connection to Windows

Is there a way to have a folder and all of its subfolders, and all of thier
subfolders, ... all shared easily?  I have over 200 folders that I want
shared and i really don't want to share each one individually.

I am running WMC V2 on an Xp SP2 2 GHZ PC.  When I add local shared folders I
can see them on my DMR.  I  can also see WMC scanning my local hard drive.  
When I add a network share (Windows 2003 Server) it does not scan the

When I try to install wmc from www.xbox.com/pcsetup I have the following
problem. When I click 'Run' to install, the .exe, is see a progress bar
showing the file is extracting itself and then the install stops completely.

I have my xbox on the screen to install wmc, and my xbox reads my computer,
but my computer says it can't authorize my xbox. im running on a wireless
network. how can i fix it?
