when i try to open a movie by opening a link to a movie
that is on the internet the movie won't play the player
just comes up and give me the error that it has
encountered a problem and needs to close. i tried

So I downloaded a video that is a {sig}mpg.  Media player(v.9 on XP) gives
me an Unknown Error. I tried Google for info but turned up nothing.  Is
there a codec I need?  Or do I need to use a different player?

I was having the same 800C000E error that several others were having.  But, I noticed that it worked in the IE Media Bar
So, I reset my media bar settings and just watch it there.  Go to View > Explorer Bar > Media.  Then on the Media Bar, go to Media Options > Settings > Reset ...

I am trying to listen to songs from a website, but they will only buffer/play about 10%, then I get the network error C00D11C0.  I set all of the streaming protocols they way it said to, but still only get about 19 seconds of a 4 minute song.
