Getting Cannot play back the file.  The format is not supported. (Error=80040265) message when launching windows media player.  Running windows 2000.  Anyone know how to fix this?

i've got windows media player version 8 on Win XP but whenever I want to play a film, it gives the error message "ClassFactory cannot supply the requested class". Why does that happen? What can I do?
