Can you re-install windows, but keep the computers list of names, artists, etc, within Media Player (that I spent ages typing in!)?

Whenever I restart windows mediaplayer and access my media library, the list is not sorted anymore and I need to click on the 'Artist' tab to sort the list again. When I switch to 'playing now' and then back to the 'media libary' the listst is unsorted again.

I am not able to open the following url in WMP 9.0.0.3075- - mms://216.158.56.243/LIGHTFM -- However, I am able to open it in my mplayer2 which is version 6.4. What would cause that? I am running a Dell Dim4500WinXPHome--
