Everytime my computer starts up it opens up the windows

once in a while as soon as i start Windows Media Player a
phoney message pops up: To listen to the CD a number of
files need to be updated on your computer. select ok to
install, cancel to quit installation.

Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 272487 was not helpful as it refers to media player 7 and recomend upgrade to the latest plyer - but upgrading to WMP 9 appears to have caused the problem!
