I am currently running Windows XP Professional and Windows Media Player 9 and the latest version of DirectX.  There are no updates required by any of the three programs.
The problem occured when I upgraded my computer. The only Changes are as follows:

I've some mp3s that doesn't work in the Media Player, it gives me an error such like "not a valid multimedia format", but  the Creative PlayCenter can open the mp3s... can I do something that makes the Media Player open those mp3s?

I can't play .avi files in Windows Media Player 9 or 6.4. I have divx and ffdshow installed. This only started to happen after I installed XP SP2 RC2. Even after I uninstalled SP2, with SP1 avi's still don't play.
