I have an acer notebook by it will not play a movie but will play my my home pc also with Media verion 9 software

ive downloaded a song from mirc but when i was trying to open the file,a dialog box appears: "the parameter is incorrect".  what do i do about this? i badly need help.thank u so much.

i updated my windows media last week. when i want to play something thats saved to the library,it just goes down all the tracks which means i cant play them, or comes up with this message:
