What kind of codec do I need to install to fix this problem?

I am trying to play some tracks and avi in media play but i keep getting unknown error C00D11CD. How can this be solved to allow me to play curtain files?

I cannot play any music files on my computer whatsoever.  This message appears everytime I try to play any music file.  "The requested audio codec is not installed on this system."  What does that mean and how do I fix it?  My music worked fine before.

when i try to burn a c.d a window comes up that says "Windows Media Player does not detect any storage media in the selected device. Insert media into the device."
and i dont know what to do. ive already tryed reinstalling it. will someone help me please?

i am having trouble playing this certain video .

When playing music CDs on Plextor Premium CD/RW using
Windows Media Player 9 the sound is very distorted. Same
CDs play OK on Iomega machines. Help, anyone?

When trying to play radio stations I get "Windows Media Player encountered an unknown error." The radio stations were at this site: http://radio.emulationzone.org/
Is it the site or is  it my windows media player?
