My windows media player just quite working, how do I get

Before Chris gives me the standard response of how to set the region code
using the Properties menu of the DVD drive, let me say that 1) I understand
how that works; and 2) my Plextor drive is set to region 1 and I am using WMP

When I try to play a DVD with Media player, versions 9 or 10, it drops

I got an error message "C00D1B83" what does this mean?

Windows media player will not play mpegs. Some of them
start to play and others save that the media type is not
recognized. All the files are saved as mpeg (not QT or RP)
any suggestions?

I recall that I used to be able to edit .wav files in earlier versions of
WMP. Is this possible in version 10? I just want to snip off part of a .wav
file.
