My Media Player (for Windows XP Home) only plays on one speaker and is very distorted, but if I log in under my daughter's user account it works fine. How do I fix this?

Vocal track was accidentally turned off when playing back songs from the library. I do not know what I have activated/deactivated. The track plays like a minus-one without the vocal. What could I have done?

I'm in the ridiculous position of not being able to get an inegrated part of the WinXP OS working, despite following all the advice I can find. I am running windows xp pro, sp2, with the latest patches.

When I play a DVD it has clear picture and good sound fx volume,but I can barely hear the voice of people talking. It is so low and so bad that it is not worth watching. Really need some help on this issue. What do I do.
