Whenever I try to open an avi file by right clicking/selecting open, when the open with box opens the "always use the selected program to open this kind of file " option is greyed out. I use Windows XP home together with Windows Media Player 10.

Over the last several years, WMP has gotten hard and harder to use. I just spent neaarly an hour just trying to turn off visualizations. I find configuring and using programs like Visual Studio 2005 much, much easier than WMP 9.
