This is a variation on some of the other posts here.  I am running windows
XP on a Dell Inspiron E1505.  
I am unable to rip CD's to mp3 in any bitrate above 56.  Ripping at 56kbps
works fine.  

I keep getting an error message #C00D1198.  How do I correct this?

When I try to play music little red x's allign on each song. Says something

I use Windows XP with SP2. I also use Yahoo! Music Unlimited to
download DRM-encoded .wma tracks to transfer to portable devices.
Lately, whenever I logon to the program I get an error message saying
that network settings are preventing me from downloading or streaming

By unusual, I'm referring to anything that isn't one of the
.wma/.mp3/.wav/.avi/&c files that Media Player displays natively.
However, I have a collection of files that Windows Media Player doesn't even
honour as 'Other Media' - .mod/.s3m/.xm/.ogg/.oga/.mov for example.

I do use wmp11, it did work well until few days ago.
Now some songs are distotrted ;
I tried to look if it was because of the EQ as Zachd suggested in another
post, but it's already off.

I am embedding a WMV file in a web page.  I would like to include a WMP icon
on that webpage that links to the WMP download page.  Pretty standard.
