I have my speakers hooked up and I know they work, but get no sound. I don't get sounds of any kind, even when signing off and on. What can I do,? I have been playing around but cannot get a beep. Help??? Thanks

I'm installing a new machine (WinXP SP2, WMP 10). There's a problem with the playback of AVI files. The audio plays fine, but the video shows a frame or two and then freezes up. GSpot claims:

There has to be a way to edit sndrec32 using a hex editor (like XVI32) to change the default recording time in "Sound Recorder". If anyone has considered this and started searching, or if anyone is willing to give a hint or an answer to this question, I would appreciate it.
