I have WindowsXP pro.
I first noticed a problem when I was unable
to connect to my ISP most of the time, even
though the "Windows Task Manager" networking
MSOCACHE/90000.../kb915865.exe=W32.dawin symptoms?30 Jul 2008 16:45 GMT-
..saw on usb flash the mentioned virus(but only after  inserted it in
Linux machine)
however I am not 100 % sure it is the same malware/virus that
infected  PC in question.

I got the Virtumonde malware, and have succeeded to get rid of it.
There's only one point left: when using Autoruns from Sysinternals (now
Microsoft), I can see there is something left in
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\Authentication Packages

When I started my computer this morning I got a page that encouraged me to
download a program called XP Anti Virus. There was an official looking
MicroSoft Security logo in the upper left hand corner.
I did not download the program but somehow wound up with a bunch of XP Anti

One of my team's PowerPoint files apparently got infected with a virus which
Mcafee describes as the "slacker virus" but is unable to desinfected it for
some reason - I get an error saying file cannot be cleaned whenever I try to
do so.

We use Officescan for our enterprise anti-virus system, and I thought they
might integrate Mac based scanning(due to their partnership with Intego), to
avoid having to buy a Mac to install an antivirus system on. I have a ticket
open with Trend on this question for their products ...

I was a bad boy and was downloading bad things from the internet
Windows Defender found a Trojan: Win32/Vundo.gen
Used Window Defender to remove it

I am using symantec Norton anti virus and it has discovered a trojan horse in
the c:\recycler folder. the file is not supported by Norton so cannot be
deleted automatically. How do i empty the folder, or simply this one file,
myself?

I caught a virus on my computer yesterday.
It brings me pop-ups every now and then and it has been really annoying. I
scanned my computer using Spybot and Symantec Antivirus (with the most
updated definitions) and deleted whatever they found. Symantec found a virus

i have located a virus in my pc but McAffee won t put it in quarentine
its a file in the system 32 map named ctfmon (or somethin)
if anybody knows what i should or can do (exept resetting my pc) .. please

During auto update, when I install KB890830, malicious software removal tool,
the PC crashes with the message "worker thread returned at bad IRQL".
I have narrowed  the updates down to this particular one by installing all
other updates successfully.
