I notice that when I try and change an icon to something better than just the Windows version of what it thinks an icon should have for a picture, that I can't make the change. I click on a new picture and save it, and no sir.... that windows picture remains.

A cousin passed away in July. I have inherited her Acer laptop. My problem is that it is password-protected upon sign in. I've seen people talking about signing in as an admin and the like, but I can't get past the opening password screen.

My son works with a pc with a limited account, because with the parental control I switch on the time limit so he can not use his PC at night. But I want to allow him to install or uninstall programs which is not allowed with a limited user account.

I posted this on several Vista groups in desperation. I can't get control of my own computer although I'm the only user. I can't understand the complicated directions given to OWN my own PC so I can delete unwanted files downloaded to it in error from a backup external drive.
