Hello, Please can you tell me how I can add entries into the hosts file. Every time I try and save the modified file I a message saying that I don't have permission. I have also tried making sure the folder "etc" is not set to read only but I still get access denied.

All I know about WinFS right now (other than the fact that it's not ready for primetime) is that it's some sort of SQL tie-in to the filesystem and/or perhaps all Vista these indexes. It's not a filesystem per se, like NTFS is a filesystem. What I don't know is: What exactly will ...

maybe you already know: if you logon with a non admin user and then try to perform a file operation using explorer that requires elevated rights you will get the elevated dialog but the file operation will fail even if you provide correct credentials for an admin user.
