Hello, All!
We have a problem with the default Vista security settings. We need a place
to save our ini file with setting and we want to allow any user to write to
this file. Previously we could use "C:\Documents and Settings\All

When browsing remote filesystems on the Beta2 of Vista, I notice that not
all folders show up.
I have one directory with 305 subfolders. This hierarchy did show fine in
XP, but in Vista I only get to see 126 folders of the 305 that where

I was wondering if anyone knew if it were possible to search for more than
one things such as extensions or keyword?
All I can find in Vista is the ability to refine your search further with
the advanced filters, but I can't find a way to view a selection of documents

I can't select multiple files from the default Download folder. Someone else

Dunno if this can be done... if not, then its REALLY annoying.
When viewing folders from My Computer (not using Windows Explorer) all other
versions of MS Windows use to list folders and files vertically down the

Is there any way to edit the items that show up in the preview pane? I want

In XP I was able to change the icon the system would use for a file type.
I have installed a text editor and would like to use it's icon. But Vista
keeps using the ugly notepad icon.
Can this icon be changed in Vista?

I cant seemed to associate .doc files with Word.  They are insisting on
associating with Notepad.  I try to associate it through the relevent window,
however despite clicking on the .exe file it wont associate. It doesnt even
add it to the "possibles" window.

I have a problem when I try to overwrite a device driver file on Vista
64bits platform. Vista does not allow me although I try to change all

My search index appears to be broken.  When I attempt to modify the search
index by Control Panel -> Indexing Options, I recieve a message "Waiting for

We all have a directory called windows.old and in it are all our old
programs. I would rather just re-install all that stuf and totally get rid of
any reference to my old windows setup if that is at all possible and wise.
I dont want to just go and delete a bunch of folders only ...
