There are many folders with shortcut arrows on them that have access denied. Are all these all folders that are there for legacy purposes and have been replaced by other folders in Vista? If so, what are these now caled? History?

If I run Notepad as Administrator, then I can't drag a text file from an ordinary Explorer window and have it appear. The Notepad window remains blank. If I also run Explorer as Administrator, then it works. I found this out while trying to add an entry to the hosts file.

When I updated from windows xp my "my music" folder seemed to be the only one that had security permissions preventing me from accessing the folder..I have permission now but all my music is gone, but my disc space is still the same as if I had all the music still. What do I do?

1. Quite wonderfully when I drag the JPG's out of my temp internet folder into a permanent location it asks me how to handle the duplicates. I save them and let Vista name them. They end up with (2).jpg at the end of the name.

This is a quite important flaw: When renaming a folder (f.e. after pressing F2 to rename), the keyboard Delete key does not delete a character in the filename but erases the whole file!!

Is there a method for doing multiple file renames within a folder? example with Winxp you could go to start, cmd and preform a rename *.html *.txt Is there a method within Vista to do a similar function?

I love how in XP, I can double click on a folder while holding down CTRL and it opens up a NEW widow at that destination. I also love how I can do this with the UP button in Explorer and it goes up a directory while opening a new Explorer window.

HELP - can anyone tell me how to format a CD-RW so I can create, save, edit and reuse files on a CD-RW? I have tried following steps on disk management but cannot format. I need to reuse CD-RWs and all files saved are Read-Only files on the CD-RW. HELP!!!!
