Before repartitioning my hard drive, I used Vista's Home Premium's
full PC backup option to save all my files to another drive. It
created a directory named after my machine, which contains a "Backup
Set (date)" directory that has a Catalogs and a Backup Files (date)

Probably a bit of a hard one here.
In Explorer windows, one very annoying thing is how narrow the Name column
is set in Details View by default.  It is such a pain to have to make it
wider all the time.

Is there no way to get rid of that annoying "favoritelinks" windows/box that
sits above the tree-view in explorer? To mee it is absolutely useless and
just steals space from the file-tree.

Why can the search facility not distinguish between [square] and (round)
brackets in filenames?
For example, I am seaching for a file with "[!]" in the filename, I get hits
not only for files with "[!]" but also for files with "(!)" in the filename.

When I used Windows XP and I wanted to SAVE a file, I would click on "Save
as" and a drop-down menu would appear that included "Desktop."  Then the file
would appear on the desktop or in a folder that I had created on the desktop.

I had my Documents, Pictures, etc. folders relocated to another hard drive
and the drive letter got changed when I installed a flash card reader that
took it's drive letter. Now Windows doesn't recognize the location of these

I have all other functions i.e. Restart,sleep,shutdown, listed in the menu,
but hibernation is missing.  It was there a week ago but it seems to have
